Buenos Aires. In the Latin American nation of Argentina, the total soybean production for the current year is estimated to reach 48 million tons. Vigorous harvesting preparations are currently underway across the country. In its report, the Rosario Grains Exchange has slightly lowered its figures regarding the soybean sown area but has expressed optimism regarding a potential increase in the average crop yield rate.
The Exchange had previously estimated the soybean acreage at 16 million hectares; it has now revised this figure downward by 200,000 hectares, setting it at 15.8 million hectares (39 million acres).
Based on the projected increase in the average yield rate, the Exchange has estimated that Argentina's soybean production will reach 49 million tons, whereas the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange has projected 48.5 million tons,
and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has forecast a production of 48 million tons. The yield rate for early-harvested crops is proving to be encouraging. This yield rate has been recorded at 3,960 kilograms per hectare in the Northern Core Area and 4,200 kilograms per hectare in the Southern Core Area.
On a national level, the Exchange has estimated the average soybean yield rate to be 3,750 kilograms per hectare, or 55.8 bushels per acre. Harvesting of the crop is currently in progress.
