According to the Meteorological Department, there is less rainfall than expected in February
★ According to the Meteorological Department, February is expected to see less rainfall than usual. So far, there has been inadequate rainfall during the Rabi season, and crops are in dire need of water. The department predicts minimal rainfall in February, which could harm crops like wheat, gram, lentils, mustard, and others.
★ Mustard seeds are expected to reach markets soon. Lack of rain may lead to crop drying and a decrease in oil content in seeds. The most affected crop is likely to be wheat, as temperatures in Uttar Pradesh and some other regions are above normal.
★ The government has successfully controlled prices by increasing the quantity under OMSS (Open Market Sale Scheme), but the future outlook depends on temperature and weather. Reports indicate higher-than-usual temperatures not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh. The La Nina effect is negligible.
