The Karnataka government has initiated the purchase of tur (Arhar) under the price support scheme in Yadgir district, a major producer of the pulse.

The Central Government has set the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for tur at Rs 7,550 per quintal for the 2024-25 marketing season.

To facilitate this, 21 purchase centers have been established across the district, managed by the Cooperative Marketing Federation Board, which is the nodal agency for the scheme.

Farmers are encouraged to register at these centers to sell their tur at the MSP, and the registration window will remain open for 75 days, until March 20, 2025. The actual purchase will occur over a three-month period.

The purchase centers have been strategically located in areas like Shahpur, Hattikuni, Yadgir Chamnal, and others, to minimize travel time for farmers.

The Deputy Commissioner of Yadgir has advised farmers to register early to ensure they can benefit from the MSP, especially if market prices fall.
