According to export sales data released this morning, US wheat sales for the week ending October 1 totaled 451,562 metric tons. This was the second-largest weekly sales figure of the current marketing year, but it was still approximately half the volume recorded during the same week last year. The Philippines was the largest buyer, purchasing 112,000 metric tons. South Korea purchased 100,000 metric tons, while Japan bought 62,900 metric tons.
According to analysts surveyed by Bloomberg, the upcoming WASDE report on Friday is expected to show US wheat stocks increasing by 4 million bushels to 721 million bushels.
A Taiwanese flour mill purchased 105,800 metric tons of US wheat through a tender overnight.
