Weekly Review - Mustard
Mustard prices firm up due to strong buying interest

New Delhi. During the week of October 24–30, mustard prices rose by ₹100 to ₹300 per quintal, driven by limited arrivals in major wholesale markets (mandis) across key producing states, coupled with robust demand from millers, processors, traders, and stockists. There is strong festive demand for mustard oil, and exports of mustard oil cake/DOC (de-oiled cake) have also shown a satisfactory performance.
Mustard (42% condition)
During the week under review, the price of 42% condition mustard increased by ₹50–100 in Delhi and Jaipur, reaching new record highs of ₹9,100 and ₹9,300 per quintal, respectively.
Mustard
Prices for average-quality mustard are currently ranging between ₹8,000 and ₹9,000 per quintal—well above the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Despite these record-high prices, there has not been the expected increase in the sowing area for this vital Rabi oilseed crop. In most mandis across Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, mustard prices saw an improvement of ₹100 per quintal, while in Kota, prices surged by ₹300 to reach ₹7,500–₹8,700 per quintal.
Mustard Oil / Kachi Ghani
Strong trading activity in mustard oil (expeller and *kachi ghani*—cold-pressed) led to price fluctuations. In Delhi, the price of expeller mustard oil dipped by ₹5 to ₹1,795 per 10 kg, whereas in Morena, it jumped by ₹40 to reach ₹1,820 per 10 kg. Similarly, the price of *kachi ghani* mustard oil in Morena also saw an increase of ₹40 per 10 kg.
Arrivals / Stocks
Daily mustard arrivals across India have declined to between 100,000 and 200,000 tonnes, suggesting that producers do not hold substantial stocks of this key oilseed, and that the warehouses of government agencies are also nearly empty.
