Fluctuations in Groundnut Prices Amidst Normal Arrivals and Limited Trading
New Delhi. During the week spanning April 25 to May 1, groundnut arrivals in major producing states—including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh—remained lower than normal levels. In Gujarat's Rajkot market, daily supplies of groundnuts ranged between 6,000 and 10,000 bags, and prices there remained stable within the range of ₹6,000 to ₹9,000 per quintal.
Rajasthan
Similarly, in Bikaner, Rajasthan, no change was observed in the price level of ₹7,500 per quintal; however, in Solapur, Maharashtra, groundnut prices surged by ₹700 to reach ₹8,200 per quintal. In Uttar Pradesh, groundnut prices declined by ₹400 and ₹200 per quintal in the Jhansi and Mahoba markets, respectively; conversely, in Mauranipur, prices rose by ₹600 to settle between ₹6,600 and ₹7,200 per quintal.
Groundnut Kernels
Trading activity for shelled groundnut kernels improved in Maharashtra, leading to price increases of ₹500–₹600 per quintal in Solapur and ₹300–₹500 per quintal in Nagpur. In these markets, significant buying interest was demonstrated by both millers and exporters.
Groundnut Oil
Trading for loose groundnut oil witnessed mixed trends—being robust in some regions while sluggish in others. In Gujarat—specifically in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar—strong demand led to a price recovery of ₹25 for groundnut oil, bringing the rate to ₹1,600 per 10 kg; however, the price for the standard 15-kg oil tin declined by ₹25. Groundnut oil prices also softened by ₹10–₹30 per 10 kg in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bikaner, Newai/Tonk, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Branded Oils
In Kota, the price of branded groundnut oil remained steady at ₹2,850 per tin (15 liters), while a decline of ₹2–4 per kg was recorded in the prices of filtered oil in Jaipur and Newai.
