New Delhi. To encourage farmers in Madhya Pradesh, the second-largest wheat contributor to the central pool after Punjab, to increase production of this most important food grain during the Rabi season, the state government has taken a major decision.

Under this, it has been announced that wheat will be purchased from farmers at a rate of Rs. 2700 per quintal in the 2026-27 Rabi marketing season, which is Rs. 115 more than the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

It is noteworthy that the Central Government has increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat for the 2025-26 Rabi season to Rs. 2585 per quintal, which is Rs. 160 more than the MSP of Rs. 2425 per quintal for the 2024-25 season.

In Madhya Pradesh, wheat producers were given an additional bonus of Rs 175 per quintal over and above the MSP for the 2025 Rabi marketing season, resulting in the purchase of wheat at a rate of Rs 2,600 per quintal. Previously,

when the Central Government had set the MSP for wheat at Rs 2,275 per quintal for the 2024 Rabi marketing season, the Madhya Pradesh government announced an additional bonus of Rs 125 and purchased wheat from farmers at a rate of Rs 2,400 per quintal.

Although a public announcement of an additional bonus of Rs 115 per quintal on wheat for the 2026 Rabi marketing season has been made, an official notification has not been issued.

This government announcement will encourage farmers in the state to increase wheat acreage and increase production by taking good care of the crop.

After Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh is the state's largest wheat producer and produces the largest quantity of wheat.

Madhya Pradesh is the only state where the government wheat procurement target was increased twice by 1 million tons during the last Rabi marketing season.

The wheat procurement target was initially set at 6 million tons, which was later increased to 7 million tons and 8 million tons, respectively.

A bonus scheme for wheat farmers was also introduced in Rajasthan, but it has not yet been announced for the current season. The wheat sowing season has officially begun. The pace of sowing will remain rapid going forward.
