Record Imports Lead to a Downturn in Almond Kernel Prices

New Delhi. Following a record surge in almond kernel prices last month, importers brought in an unprecedented volume of almonds during September. Traders in the dry fruit sector state that they have never witnessed such a high level of imports throughout their careers.

According to available information, 2,097 containers of almonds and 6 containers of almond kernels were imported in September 2026—a record in the history of the trade.

Although there is currently strong festive demand in the market, the heavy influx of imports has kept prices subdued. In the Delhi market, the price of almond kernels has fallen to ₹1,110–1,120, down from the ₹1,190–1,200 range seen recently.

Sources indicate that, given the high import volumes, a price rally is unlikely; in fact, a significant decline in prices may be observed once the demand associated with the Diwali festival subsides.
