News Capsule: India’s Summer Pulse Sowing Gains Pace
★ As of March 13, total summer pulse sowing in India has reached 225,000 hectares, higher than last year’s 174,000 hectares but still below the five-year average of 332,000 hectares. Around 15% of the expected total area has been covered so far.

Crop-wise progress:
★ Mung (green gram): 133,000 hectares (last year: 109,000 hectares)
★ Urad (black matpe): 71,000 hectares (last year: 51,000 hectares)
★ Other pulses: 21,000 hectares (last year: 13,000 hectares)
★ Overall, sowing is ahead of last year but remains below normal levels.
