Increase in U.S. Acreage for Peas, Chickpeas, and Lentils
Peas
★ In 2025, the area planted under dry peas in the U.S. rose by 10% to 1.07 million acres, while the area expected to be harvested is 1.02 million acres, up 9% from last year. Four out of five states reported an increase in pea acreage.

Chickpeas
★ Total area planted under all types of chickpeas is estimated at 540,000 acres, an 8% increase over 2024.
★ Small-caliber Kabuli chickpeas saw a 3% decline in acreage to 134,000 acres.
★ Large-caliber Kabuli chickpeas increased by 12%, reaching 406,000 acres.

★ Lentil acreage in the U.S. rose by 8% to 1.01 million acres, with the area expected to be harvested at 964,000 acres, up 7% from last year.
★ In Montana, the top lentil-producing state, sowing increased by 110,000 acres compared to last year.
