So far in October, the average December futures closing price has been $4.19, with only six trading days remaining. This is slightly higher than last year’s crop insurance harvest price of $4.17 but 51 cents below the February price.
USDA again delayed the weekly Export Sales report due to the ongoing government shutdown, while traders estimate total corn sales between 0.8 and 2 million metric tons for the week ending October 10.
According to International Grains Council (IGC) data, world corn production for 2025/26 remained steady this month, while consumption rose by 2 MMT and ending stocks increased by 5 MMT to 299 MMT. The increase was mainly due to higher 2024/25 carryover stocks (+7 MMT).
