According to the NASS Small Grains Summary released this morning, total U.S. wheat production was estimated at 1.534 billion bushels. This was only 3 million bushels above the August Crop Production report and slightly above trade estimates. HRW production was estimated at 466 million bushels, SRW at 294 million bushels, and white winter wheat at 259 million bushels. Spring wheat production was estimated at 449.5 million bushels.
The NASS quarterly Grain Stocks report released today showed wheat stocks as of September 1 at 1.846 billion bushels. This was 288 million bushels lower than last year and below market estimates.
The USDA Export Sales report will be released Thursday. Traders are expecting wheat bookings of 250,000 to 450,000 metric tons for the week ending September 24.
SovEcon has estimated Russia’s 2026/27 wheat export projection at 36.7 MMT, which is 4.7 MMT lower than its previous estimate.
