News Capsule: Global Black Matpe (Urad) Offer Prices Continue to Strengthen
★ International offer prices for black matpe (urad) destined for India continued to move higher this week. Offer prices from both Brazil and Myanmar increased by 4–8% over the previous week and remained 6–10% above their four-week averages, indicating rising import costs for the Indian market.

India CNF Offer Prices (USD/tonne)
★ Brazil Grade-1 (July/August shipment): $965/tonne, up $40 (4%) from the previous week and 6% above the four-week average of $911/tonne.
★ Myanmar FAQ: $950/tonne, up $70 (8%) week-on-week and 10% above the four-week average of $860/tonne.
★ Myanmar SQ: $1,030/tonne, up $65 (7%) from the previous week and 9% above the four-week average of $945/tonne.
★ The continued rise in international offer prices indicates tightening global availability of urad. Higher import prices have already increased the landed cost in India, providing strong support to the domestic urad market and prices.
★ Adding to the bullish outlook, El Niño-related weather concerns have significantly reduced kharif urad sowing this season, with the sowing window already closing in several key producing states. If weather conditions do not improve, lower domestic production and higher import costs are expected to push urad prices even higher in the coming months.
