International Cotton Market Update
ICE cotton futures closed Monday 56 to 63 points higher. External factors were mostly favorable, with the US Dollar Index up 33 points and crude oil rising $2.21 per barrel.
CFTC data showed speculators reduced net short positions by 340 contracts to 39,342 as of January 7.
The Seam reported 4,236 bales sold online on January 10 at an average price of 59.30 cents/lb. ICE cotton stocks remained unchanged at 20,113 bales.
The Cotlook A Index rose 25 points on January 9 to 78.95 cents/lb, while USDA's Adjusted World Price (AWP) fell 37 points to 54.66 cents/lb last Thursday.
