Urad buying remained subdued due to lack of buyers.
Chennai. Urad prices declined during the current week due to selling pressure and sluggish buyers. This year, a good increase was recorded in the sowing of Urad in the country. The condition of the crop is very good at present as the weather remains favourable for the crop. Due to weak lifting of Urad dal, the demand of dal millers for Urad remained subdued, which has put pressure on the prices of Urad. Due to increased selling by importers and sluggish buying, Chennai Urad witnessed a decline of Rs. 100/200 per quintal this week and the price remained at Rs. 8600 for FAQ and Rs. 9050 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Mumbai Urad also declined by Rs. 100 per quintal this week and remained at Rs. 8750 per quintal at the weekend.
Burma
Due to increased selling by exporters and weak buying, Burma Urad FAQ declined by $ 30 and SQ by $ 35 per tonne during the current week and the price remained at $ 980 per FAQ and $ 1070 per SQ at the weekend.
Delhi
Due to the impact of the decline in port and weak demand from dal millers, Delhi Urad FAQ declined by Rs 125 and SQ by Rs 150 per quintal during the current week and the price remained at Rs 8975 per FAQ and Rs 9450 per SQ at the weekend.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to weak buying, prices of Madhya Pradesh urad witnessed a decline of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the prices at the weekend remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 6000/7800, Ganjbasoda Rs. 6000/8500, Jabalpur Rs. 7000/9000, Kareli Rs. 7180/8200 and Indore Rs. 8800/9000 per quintal.
Maharashtra
Due to sluggish buying, prices of Maharashtra urad witnessed a decline of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and the prices at the weekend remained at Akola Rs. 9050, Latur Rs. 8000/8200, Barshi Rs. 6500/8000 and Ahmednagar Rs. 7000/8000 per quintal.
Others
Due to the weak demand of dal millers, this week, the price of Krishna district urad in Andhra Pradesh fell by Rs. 200 and Vijayawada urad also fell by Rs. 175 per quintal and the price remained at Rs. 9100 for Krishna district and Rs. 9125/9225 per quintal for Vijayawada at the weekend. Similarly, Raipur urad also fell by Rs. 200 this week and remained at Rs. 9400 per quintal at the weekend.
Urad dal
Due to weak demand, the price of urad dal fell by Rs. 150/200 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the price remained at Delhi Rs. 10650/11850, Bhatapara Rs. 11200/11400, Jalgaon Rs. 11800, Meerut Rs. 10300/10700 and Indore Rs. 10200/12500 per quintal.
