Pea prices rise due to improvement in demand

Kanpur. During the current week, the pea market witnessed a bullish trend. Prices remained strong due to the calming down of selling in the market and increased buying. Due to the impact of the ongoing rise in the prices of gram, the trend of dal millers has now started moving towards peas as well, which strengthened the rising prices of peas. The total estimated import of yellow peas in the April to June quarter of the financial year 2025–26 is likely to be only 1,75,218 metric tonnes, which is much less than the import of 8,31,138 metric tonnes in the same period last year. At present, stocks from Russia and Canada are available in limited quantities, and all eyes are now on the new crop. A record 50 lakh tonnes of yellow peas is expected to be produced in Russia this year, the supply of which can start in India from September. At the same time, the Canadian crop will start coming to the market in October. Due to the importers' selling slowing down and buying increasing, during the current week also, the prices of imported peas saw a rise of Rs 150/200 per quintal and the prices remained at Mumbai Canada Rs 3500, Russia Rs 3300 and currency Canada Rs 3250/3325 and Russia Rs 3100/3150 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, the prices of Kolkata peas also improved by Rs 50 per quintal this week and the prices became Canada Rs 3625 and Russia Rs 3500/3525 per quintal. Due to the demand remaining good, the prices of Kanpur peas registered a good increase of Rs 175 per quintal this week and with this increase, the prices became Rs 3625/3650 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, the prices of Lalitpur peas also saw an increase of Rs 100 per quintal this week and the prices became Rs 3100/3400 per quintal at the weekend. Due to customer support, Orai peas improved by 50 rupees per quintal this week and reached 3000/3200 rupees per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Mahoba peas also increased by 50 rupees per quintal this week and reached 3200/3400 rupees per quintal at the weekend. Due to support of all-round rise and increase in demand, the prices of peas in Madhya Pradesh increased by 100/150 rupees per quintal this week and the prices reached 3200/3400 rupees per quintal at Bina and 3150/3300 rupees per quintal at the weekend at Damoh.

Due to support of rise in pea prices and increase in buying, prices of peas dal increased by 150 rupees per quintal during the current week and the prices remained at 3850/3900 rupees per quintal at Kanpur and 4050/4100 rupees per quintal at the weekend at Indore.
