Lentil prices rise due to demand

Mumbai. During the current week, lentil prices saw an upward trend. Due to continuous rains in major producing areas, the arrival of lentils in the markets remained weak, which affected the supply in the market. Amidst weak arrivals, demand improved from stockists and dal millers. Due to which lentil prices have got strong support. Also, keeping in mind the festive demand, the activity of dal mills may remain in the coming weeks as well. Due to which an increase in prices can be seen. Due to weakening of selling by importers and increase in buying, imported lentil prices saw an increase of Rs 50/100 per quintal this week. And at the weekend, the price became Mundra Rs 6050, Hazira Rs 6100/6125 and container Canada Rs 6250/6300 and Australia Rs 6200/6250 per quintal. Similarly, prices of Kolkata lentil also witnessed a rise of Rs. 125 per quintal this week and at the weekend the prices became Canada 6300 Rs. and Australia 6350 Rs. per quintal.
Delhi
Due to better demand, in the current week Delhi small lentil witnessed a rise of Rs. 300/350 and desi badi 100 Rs. per quintal and with this rise the prices became at the weekend for small quota 7000/7050 Rs., Bundi 7600/7650 Rs., Uttar Pradesh 7700/7750 Rs. and desi badi 6900 Rs. per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to continued buying, prices of lentils in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a rise of Rs. 100 per quintal this week as well and over the weekend, prices became Ashoknagar Rs. 6400/6500, Bina Rs. 6500/6600, Sagar Rs. 6200/6600, Damoh Rs. 6400/6850, Indore Rs. 6000/6050, Kareli Rs. 5200/6641 and Katni Rs. 6800 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Due to weak selling and strong demand, prices of lentils in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a rise of Rs. 150/250 per quintal during the current week and with this rise, prices over the weekend became Bareilly Choti Rs. 7600/7650, Moti Rs. 6900, Lalitpur Moti Rs. 6200/6600, Choti Rs. 7200/7650 and Orai Rs. 6000/6400 per quintal.
Others
Due to support of all round rise and better demand, Bihar lentil prices registered a strong jump of 400/500 rupees per quintal this week and with this jump, the price at weekend reached Rs. 7200 for Barh, Rs. 7100 for Khusrupur and Rs. 7200 for Mokama per quintal. Similarly, Raipur lentil prices also rose by Rs. 100 per quintal this week and reached Rs. 6400 per quintal at weekend.
Masoor Dal
Due to the support of bullishness in lentil and continued buying, prices of Masoor Dal witnessed a rise of 200/300 rupees per quintal during the current week and with this rise, the weekend prices became Indore Rs. 7500/7600, Barh Rs. 8000/8300, Khusrupur Rs. 7900/8200, Mokama Rs. 8000/8300, Chandausi Rs. 8000/8500 and Hyderabad Rs. 8000 per quintal.
