Jaipur. Due to favorable weather and active farmer activity in Rajasthan, an important agricultural producer in the western part of the country, the Rabi crop production area is continuously increasing and has significantly surpassed last year's level.

According to the latest data from the State Agriculture Department, this year, the gross Rabi crop production area in Rajasthan has increased to 69.35 lakh hectares as of November 13th, which is 10.47 lakh hectares more than the 58.88 lakh hectares sown during the same period last year.

According to the Agriculture Department, the area under cultivation of almost all crops in Rajasthan has increased during the current Rabi season compared to last year, including wheat, barley, gram, mustard, and taramira.

The area under cereal crops has jumped from 8.43 lakh hectares last year to 13.45 lakh hectares, the area under pulses has increased from 13.65 lakh hectares to 17.68 lakh hectares, and the area under oilseeds has improved from 29.75 lakh hectares to 31.56 lakh hectares. The vigorous sowing of Rabi crops is still underway.

During the period under review, the area under wheat in the cereal crops category in Rajasthan increased from 7.06 lakh hectares to 11.39 lakh hectares, and the area under barley increased from 1.37 lakh hectares to 2.06 lakh hectares.

Similarly, among pulses, the area under gram has jumped from 13.39 lakh hectares to 17.54 lakh hectares, and among oilseed crops, the area under mustard has improved from 29.01 lakh hectares to 30.46 lakh hectares, and the area under taramira has increased from 65 thousand hectares to 1.05 lakh hectares.

However, the area sown for other pulses and linseed declined during the Rabi season. This clearly indicates that Rajasthan farmers are prioritizing the cultivation of key Rabi crops this year.

Rajasthan is a major producer of mustard and barley, while it also produces significant amounts of wheat and chickpea. Fields in most districts of the state have sufficient moisture.
