News Capsule: OMSS Wheat Tender Sale Schedule Likely to Change: Sources
★ According to sources, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) may revise the sale schedule of wheat under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS).
★ Until now, the tenders were conducted every week, but it is likely that the sale will now be held once every two weeks (fortnightly).
★ As per the proposed change, the next tender may be uploaded on November 21, 2025, though an official confirmation is still awaited.

Low Response in First Tender – Only 69,827 Tons Sold (Value Junction Data)
★ In the first tender held on November 12, FCI had offered 200,000 tons of wheat, but only 69,827 metric tons were sold.
★ In contrast, during the first tender of the previous selling year (December 4, 2024), 98,470 metric tons were sold out of the 100,000 tons offered.
★ The lower sale this time is being attributed to ample wheat availability in the open market.
★ Private traders and millers are already holding adequate stocks, which has limited demand for FCI wheat.
★ Industry experts believe that the timing of the OMSS launch was not appropriate, as the market was already stable and prices were under control.
★ This is considered one of the main reasons for the lower offtake in the first tender.
